The myth and the legand
Welcome to jedijim.com! I’m Jim, the creator behind 262WORKSHOP and 262FINDS. This site is my personal hub — the business lives at 262WORKSHOP operating out of Leland, North Carolina which is where we live now, I combine decades of technical background with detailed hands-on artisan woodworking, 3D printing, and precision laser cutting.
In my younger days I worked for a company as a program developer. We signed all the programs we wrote with our initials. Mine happen to be JED. We also had an RAP, and a MAP. So the assitants who worked alongside us started calling us Jedi, Rapi, and Mapi. It was during this time that I saw an ad for a lifetime website for $200. That sounded cool to me so I paid the fee and they told me to pick a domain name to go with it. Not being able to think of anything catchy or professional sounding, I chose Jedijim.com as my domain name and have kept it ever since.
So it really doesn't have anything to do with the Star Wars Jedi Knights - now you know the truth.
A word of warning to you - if you search for jedijim on Google, it'll pull up other people that call themselves Jedijim as well so make sure you know which Jedijim you are talking too.
What Do I Do
- Custom Laser Engraving: On-site engraving and custom personalized gifts using wood, slate, cork, leatherette, and high-quality plywoods.
- 3D Printing: I like functional items and 3D print displays and accessories to my laser projects (coaster holders, etc).
- Writer: Wrote a novel, a couple of children's books. I write when the mood strike s me.
- Grandfather: Also known as Papa. Try to teach them love, respect, and a little bit of fishing
- Husband/Father: Try to take care of them best I know how and be there for them when they need me.
- Cook: Try to make sure spouse comes home to a good meal. Make a mean chili and calico beans (people fight over them).
